The Scene of the World is Changing

Wow! The “scene of the world is changing” and yes, it really IS changing. Even though I do not get involved with the politcs of the world (I am a strong believer in the seperation of church and state) I am excited to have lived to see the day when more people than ever would see passed a skin color and choose the right man for the job. President Obama has a LOT to handle during his Presidency, but we have to remember though, he is only ONE man and does not even have ALL the power in Washington.

What really struck me on a personal level, was the worldwide reaction to his win. Now perhaps I did not pay attention to the reaction levels of people during past elections, but this time I did pay attention and I saw the deep emotions that were drawn out of people. I saw the joy, I saw the tears, I saw the cheers.

People worldwide ARE indeed hopeful, DO indeed want the President of the United States to bring about peace and truly DO want change. For the first time ever I “felt” something different. I don’t know what kind of real change is going to literally take place, but I do believe in a different kind of outcome. I believe that God does have a plan and perhaps this is where his plan for the future of mankind begins……with change.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I remember the time when my Mother, who is a breast cancer survivor was diagnosed with the disease. It was a very hard and sad time for the whole family. I am glad they caught it early enough to be able to remove it, but it left us all thinking that wow, it happened to our Mom and could happen to any of us. Not all women are as fortunate as my Mother was and many families loose their loved ones due to breast cancer. We all need not forget that in spite of all the medical advances, cancer is a serious problem, as well as so many other medical conditions surrounding us and affecting us today. With that in mind, there are many ways we can be supportive of the ongoing efforts to fight cancer. Until God eraticates all sickness and death, which he will do (Revelation 21:3,4 and Isaiah 33:24) we can help fund research and foundations set up to help with the fight against breast cancer.

Soul Purpose Lifestyle Company has come out with a beautiful gift set called the Think Pink Collection, which features 3 solid perfume essences. This is to celebrate the strides made in eliminating breast cancer. Being kind to one another is key and understanding that we have all been affected in one way shape or form because of breast cancer, should give us something to think about.

Soul Purpose will donate $1 from each sale fo the Think Pink Collection to the Sisters Network and the Black Women’s Health Imperative. The Think Pink gift set includes our new fragrance called Blushing Peony as well as 2 more of our top sellers called Zanzibar Girls Club and Hawaiian Tuberose. The cost of this collection is just $35.00. Not only will you be purchasing a fantastic collection (these perfume essences do not contain any harsh chemicals as they are organic) that could be used as a gift set, you will be helping a great cause.

The Mindset of a Business Owner – Tony Gattari

Got it?

I Had to Change My Mindset

This is going to be a long one, so get your popcorn:

I had to, I had to switch my way of thinking and start thinking “outside the box.” I had to let go of the thought that a regular 9 to 5 J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) was going to bring me future stability. If anyone has ever seen the movie “The Matrix” you will know that it is a true metaphor of how this “system” really is, whether it be from a religious standpoint or a “system” one. Let me explain what I mean:

First of all it is instilled in us throughout life to just get through school and if we choose, college (so we can find a great paying job into the 6 figure range) and work for someoene else, so that we can get a paycheck to make ends meet. I am not talking about the people wise enough to be the owners of their own businesses, nor am I coming down on people who want to work for others but little did we know, the owners of the company we work for are making all of the money. The Management is making more than we are, the upper Management is making more than the Management, etc. As “peons” we just go to work to get paid and live on what someone else says we deserve to earn.

We spend the majority of our time working for someone else and in this day and age, more than one income is key to help us survive. Now I am not talking about those who live on high salaries and can make it with just one job, I am talking about those that are making $30,000 or less per year. In the state I live in, $30,000 is more like $15,000 after taxes, medical and dental costs, not to mention life insurance costs. Plus we have to pay the other bills, right? The heat bill, the electric bill, the grocery bill, water bill (I will never understand that one), if we own a home, the mortgage, if we rent, the rental bill, if we own a car that is not paid off (I won’t get a new one until mine decides to turn around and slap me for being so dog on OLD!), the car note, then there is car insurance, etc. I mean I could go on and on.

I remember when, because of medical bills and being out of work for a long period of time, I had to file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. I felt like my life was a mess and once I was back to work, I was working to pay off whatever I could and still had to have money left over to help with household bills. I had been deeply in debt and felt like I earning a paycheck working for someone else was the only way to survive. I was too lazy to figure out that there had to be something else.

Then it hit! I found out about Multi-Level Marketing (MLM). I was first exposed to MLM back in the late 80′s, early 90′s by one of my friends who had a Mary Kay party. I volunteered to have my makeup done and it was fun. Of course the MK Rep ummmm, did not do a good job on my makeup. But I just shrugged it off because I was having such a good time. I started attending different parties for different friends. There was Aloette and Partylite (I love their stuff) just to name a few more. I always had fun and placed orders, but at that particular time, I did not think that joining one of those companies was right for me. So what did I do? Yes, I stayed in the same mentality of going to work every day just to earn a paycheck.

Not was I stuck inside the box, but I was also experiencing something new. The onset of Graves Disease which kept me out of work for a long time.

Years went by before I caught wind of the industry again. I was working the J.O.B. (Just Over Broke) and doing what I needed to do to get by. Then all of the sudden I was introduced to Jafra Cosmetics and I had a party, loved the lady who conducted it (she was GOOD) and joined her team. I was a newbie and well, I needed a little handholding. My Sponsor did her very best with me and pointed me in all the right directions but I lacked the willingness to succeed. I was still in that dazed state of mind of living “paycheck to paycheck”.

I did not even attempt to read anything as regards to personal development, I did not market myself like I should have, NOBODY came to my Business Launch party so I got discouraged, I did not put myself out there like I should have and get in front of and talk to as many people as possible. I did not stay plugged in and get the training I needed either. It was MY fault and I quit, so I failed.

Guess what? I stayed home for a while to be with my new baby and then because of bills and rising costs, I went back to the good ole’ 9 to 5 exchanging time for dollars, living paycheck to paycheck and on top of that I got very sick and in came the onset of Thyroid Storm (the Graves Disease had gone into remission for a period of time), so I was out of work for a while again.

O.K. ok enough about all that. I started to get really serious about what was going on in my life and I knew I needed to do something different. I knew that I did not want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. Something had to give, something had to change. Then out of nowhere a good friend of mine told me about a company called Warm Spirit. I had remembered reading about this company and the one of the Founders named Nadine Thompson and I liked what I saw, but I was so deep in the box that I could not wake up to the opportunity. Now, since my friend had joined and wanted me to, I decided to.

But guess what? Yes, another draw back, only this time it was personal. I was married and going through some very serious marital problems. Those problems also caused a great deal of depression for me and there went my Warm Spirit business, right down the drain. I made my marital problems an excuse. More time went by…….

FINALLY after all this and some more years later I CHANGED, I changed my mindset and started doing some research on Multi-Level Marketing. I did some real research. Something kept drawing me back to it. Was it calling my name? Or was I just hearing things? Because of my background in Cosmetology, I decided to join a new MLM company called Color Me Beautiful. WOW! I was learning the business now. I had a fantastic Sponsor in that company as well, but I was still a little wet behind the ears and life, once again got in the way. I seperated from my husband for a short period of time with no job (yes out of work again) and went back to my parents house with a toddler. I tried so hard to work that business and I did o.k. I had a nice team going and was good at what I did, but I could not get what was going on in my personal life, out of the way. I pulled out of the business. I had to go get a job.

AS you can see, my mindset changed, if only a little bit. I knew MLM was the industry for me, but in this case, the timing was not right for me. There were two other companies I joined before finally finding the RIGHT ONE AT THE RIGHT TIME and that was LMS Fragrances and Freelife International (yes I still drink the GoChi Juice because it works). I only left LMS Fragrances because it wasn’t the right one for me. I am now only a customer for Freelife.

I can NOW SAY THAT I HAVE FINALLY JOINED THE RIGHT COMPANY AT THE RIGHT TIME IN MY LIFE. The drama is gone. My health is great (the Graves Disease has been in remission for 3 years now due in part to the nutritionals I am taking, including the GoChi juice) I am marketing online and offline. I have read a lot of personal development materials and continue to do so so that I can grow and stay in the RIGHT mindset and I have grown a very nice sized team of business partners who are “in the water with me” sort of speak.

I am like the character Neo in that movie The Matrix. I decided to take a chance because someone thought enough of me to open the door to this amazing industry. It took me a while to get used to the idea having made excuses by letting life get in the way, but now that I am traveling down that rabit hole, I want to see just how far it goes. Now that I woke up, I know that now I am in total control.

Do not ask me for a Discount

I love how people love to ask me for a discount, especially men for some reason, like I owe it to them or something. What?! Huh? Am I not a business women? Didn’t I offer you a discount if ONLY you would host a Lifestyle Party for me? I am not Burger King so no, you cannot have it your way! Puh-lease! Even Burger King makes you pay the price that you are supposed to be paying and THEY do not offer you an up to 75% discount on what you wish to purchase.

What is wrong people? Do you go into Macy’s or Filenes and ask for or expect a discount on products that aren’t even on sale? Why is it that Direct Sellers are all of the sudden “different” and do not deserve to make a profit? If anything, we are in the business to earn extra income. I want to keep this post brief but wow! I am in business to help others and make a profit, cut and dry. Will I have specials? Of course! Do I offer an up to 75% discount on products for people kind enough to host a Lifestyle Party with me? YES! So stop asking for a discount, unless I offer a special.

How about hosting a Lifestyle Party? You will be so glad you did, especially if you feel like you can’t afford luxurious products that are good to you, good on you and good for you! Better yet, come on and join us so that you too can get your products wholesale and earn some extra income to boot!

All Women are Sisters

All Women are Sisters, in business and in life!

I remember when I first read the words “all women are sisters.” It was something that I already knew, felt and grew up to believe but there are so many things in this world that keep us apart from one another, whether it be cultural differences, race and even seperation within our own communities.

We all represent beauty in our own way, shape and form, from our hair texture to our skin color. We are different but we are also the same and accepting one another is so important. We are “Mothers by Nature” and experience so many of the same things in life no matter where we are in the world. Throughout the centuries the “elements” of our surroundings tried to break us. Throughout the centuries we’ve had to fight, we have been through the dumps of love, we have been through the pain of loss, we have been depressed at one point or another, we have suffered and have been blind-sided by mistreatment and regret.

We’ve seen the media and other avenues of “entertainment” exploit us. We have hated ourselves because of how we look, we have hated ourselves for the things we have done, we have lived through so much yet still keep going strong.

No matter where we are, no matter where we are going, we have to remember, we are all Sisters. All Women are Sisters. Let’s support each other, because we truly do come from the same Mother. Let’s support and love one another.

Is it Really a Ground Floor Business Opportunity?

By My Soul Purpose Lifestyle Company Sponsor

How many times have you heard from independent reps of network marketing companies that their opportunity is a ground floor business opportunity? I’m sure more times than you ever wanted to.

Certainly, everyone seeking a network marketing business opportunity wants to be a part of a company that is relatively new. They all want to get in on the ground floor because they believe that they have a greater chance of achieving success. Network marketers know this and that’s exactly why so many of them promote this as a key selling point.

So what really makes a company a ground floor business opportunity?

Well, according to Dr. Charles King from the University of Illinois companies usually go through four phases of growth. Those four phases are Formation, Concentration, Momentum and Stability.

Formation is when a company is just getting started and it does about $1 million in monthly sales.

Concentration happens when a company transitions to about $5 million in monthly sales.

Momentum occurs when a company expands into new territories and countries or it introduces a new product and it experiences vertical (or straight upward) growth. Momentum can last for about 3 years and that is when most of the top money earners are made.

Stability happens when a company has gone through momentum. However, companies can extend their momentum or even go into another stage of momentum with the offering of new products or expanding into new markets, as previously stated.

So, with that being said, the next time someone tells you that their business is a ground floor opportunity, you can now asks specific questions or do a little research to find out for sure.

Once a network marketing company has gone through momentum, the chance to experience life-style changing income is not as likely as it may have been in the beginning. Nevertheless, you should not take that to mean that the opportunity is not still a good one. It simply means that most likely you will not earn as much as those who joined and stayed the course from the beginning. The bottom line is that you still can earn a good income. It just may take you a little longer to do it.

Relationship Marketing

How Women Recruit Through Relationship Marketing By Linda Locke

One of the major strengths that women have traditionally brought to their network marketing business is their advanced social and people skills. The current rage of “Relationship Marketing” just puts a new label on the tools that women have always used to build their business.
Many people believe that network marketing is a “selling” business, but women know that its really about sharing and building long-term relationships that last. And successful women use these “sharing and caring” skills as a major tool in the recruitment process.

The recruiting techniques that work best for women center around their ability to develop long-term relationships with people in both business and social settings. They do this by listening to prospects, asking questions, sharing information, and finding out what the prospect wants from their business and then helping them get it. The bottom line is that MLM is a people and communication business and women shine in these areas.

Women use several “soft” methods of relationship marketing to make contact with prospects that might be potential new recruits for their business. Many of these methods may seem too slow and too time-consuming for many people to take them seriously. But just like in Aesops fable “The Tortoise and the Hare”, its the slow and methodical tortoise that wins the race over the frenetic and aggressive hare. And so it is in building a relationship.

Building RelationshipsHow do the successful networking women cultivate these relationships? There are several relationship-based communication tools they use.

One is to be a product of the products. They tell their story. They share it with others. (Women share things all the time. If they see a movie they like, they tell people about it. If they discover a restaurant they like, they tell others. If they discover a product they like, they tell others. Its that simple.) They follow up. Once they share a product with someone, they follow up. They know that if they wait by the phone for people to call them, they will die a lonely person. They know that peoples lives are ruled by inertia. They know they must take the first step and call their prospects to ask how they liked the products.

Another communication based tool that women use is the FORM method. That stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation, and Money. When they engage people in conversation, they don’t talk about their business right away, they ask about:

Family: When they ask questions about family, they ask because they are truly interested. And to find out if they like this person enough to work with them. (After all, if they sign up in their business, they’re stuck with them.) They also ask questions about family to find out if they are likely to be users of their company’s product. (If you’re selling high-tech security devices and they live in a rural “leave the doors unlocked” small town, they may not be prime prospects.) They also want to find out what their dreams and goals are. Do they like where they live? Do they want to move somewhere better? Would they like to quit their job and have more time for family or stay home with their kids?

Occupation: Where do they work? (If they are an airline pilot, for example, they might not be interested in getting travel discounts.) Do they like their job? What is it they would really like to do, if they could?

Recreational Activities: What do they do for fun? Do they do it as often as they’d like? If not, is it because of lack of time, or lack of money, or both? If time and money were not limiting factors, what would they really like to do?

Money: Do they make as much as they’d like? Do they work an extra job to make more? How much more would they like to make? Have they ever thought about starting a home-based business?

And why do they ask these questions? Well, because they are women and it comes naturally to them. They find out lots of neat things about people they talk to. They make new friends. They know that people like people who are interested in them. And when they get the answers to these questions they know exactly what to say when people ask them about their business.
In other words, they know exactly how to present their business so it will be exciting to that person and fit their needs. They don’t have to worry about when to start talking about their business. Because people ask them (“Well, hey, tell me about yourself! What do you do?”) The bottom line is that if you have made a real connection, they’ll want to know about you. And because they are now a friend, people will listen to what they have to say. And even if the person is truly not right for their business, at least they have made a new friend, who may later refer them business.

Putting the Focus on the Prospects Point of ViewWomen tend to focus more on their prospects point of view. They talk about the benefits of the business and solicit feedback from their prospects. They don’t let their own wants and needs get in the way. They don’t use hard sales techniques and closes. They let the prospect decide. They know that they really cant “talk” someone into this business. The prospect has to want it for themselves.

Getting Contacts through NetworkingWomen have always been consummate networkers. Its a skill they use every day. They share information and referrals at business networking organizations such as their local Toastmasters or Leads Club, social organizations, religious organizations etc. When they start their business they can just plug into their network and get the word out about what they do. After all people like to do business with people they already know, like and trust.

Do all women work their business this way? Of course not! No two people ever build their business in the exact same way. But these methods take full advantage of the many inherent strengths that women already possess. Recruiting through relationships is not the quickest way to build a business, and some people are more comfortable with traditional sales oriented techniques that focus on faster growth.

But as many successful women network marketers (and now many men as well) have found, building a business through relationships works best for building a business that lasts.
